How to Pay for your Wedding Band?
This seems like a simple enough blog, which it should be. But the way that you pay for your wedding band says a lot about the band itself and how the performance might go on the night.
Bank Transfer
We all know how to use online banking now and will regularly transfer money to friends, and BACS is the most common way that wedding bands will take payments. However, make sure that the payment is going to a company and preferably not the individual. Ensure that their address is the same address as on Companies House.
Also, be aware that you might be paying for a middleman. Some wedding bands appear to be “in house” when actually they are via an agent . This means if something goes wrong, you’re less likely to be able to reach the agent or the band.
If any of these details are wrong or seem off, then you might be compromising on the professionalism of the wedding band and therefore the delivery on the night.
Card Payments
Most wedding bands will not have the capability to take card payments. If your wedding band can take payment, then this is a clear indicator of the number of events that they perform at per year, whether it be Weddings or Corporate.
In light of the current events, wedding insurance is particularly tough to come by. Most credit card companies will provide some purchasing protection. If the band were to no longer exist or to go out of business, then the credit card company are more likely to reimburse you the deposit or other payments.
Cash on the Night
If your wedding band are requesting that you pay them cash on the night, then you should think twice. There are some red flags associated with paying musicians cash on the night. How reliable are they? Will they turn up if they get offered a better gig on the same night? Are they paying tax or going through self-employment? Do they have public liability insurance?
