The Wedding Industry Awards: Best Wedding Band in the North West of 2020 & 2021!
WHAT IS TWIA?
The Wedding Industry Awards were created by award-winning wedding photographer Damien Bailey, and his wife Anna. Combining their strong backgrounds in the events industry, the couple created 23 Events Ltd to organise and run The Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA). TWIA was created as a way of giving some much-needed recognition to the countless people involved in weddings, who put 100% into their work to ensure brides and grooms all over the country have a wedding day they’ll cherish for the rest of their lives.
WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?
To date, there are a whopping 23 categories for The Wedding Industry Awards - and that’s because TWIA recognise that every person plays an integral part. From venues, florists and photographers, all the way through to the stationery and wedding bands, every role is as important as the next when it comes to making somebody’s dream wedding day come true.

HOW DID UNDER THE COVERS BECOME INVOLVED?
Glad you asked! We first became involved in 2018 in the wedding band category, when we applied for Regionals. After just missing out on being crowned the winner of ‘Best Wedding Band’ 2019, we instead received a highly commended award due to how close a call it was across the panel of judges. 2020, however was a very different story…
WHAT DID THE EVENING ENTAIL?
It was time to throw on our glad rags and make our way down to the beautiful Ashfield House in Wigan, where the Regionals were being held that year. The venue itself was dressed beautifully and there was free prosecco and delicious canapés upon arrival (always a great start to the evening!). After an hour or so of networking and meeting many like-minded professionals in the industry, we gathered in the main hall where we waited in anticipation to see who 2020’s winners were.
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE WINNERS OF THE 2020 & 2021 BEST WEDDING BAND IN THE NORTH WEST?
Ruddy amazeballs! After just missing out on the top spot in 2019, we were even more determined to go one further in 2020 and 2021 to secure the ‘Best Wedding Band North West’ award – which we’re thrilled to say, we did! It really is true that hard work pays off. We’re so pleased that so many of our lovely wedding clients took the time to vote for us – without which none of this would have been possible. It feels amazing to know that we made their wedding even more memorable by providing the smashing soundtrack to their day, in true Under the Covers Wedding Band style!
SO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Nationals, baby! If you are a winner at Regionals you’re invited along to the National Awards, where we hope to be crowned Best Wedding Band UK. The competition is fierce every year, and we are incredibly honoured to be awarded Highly Commended in 2020 and 2021; that’s no mean feat! Rest assured though, once the world of events is back up and running, our fabulous operational staff and wedding musicians won’t stop pushing themselves to earn that top accolade. Watch this space!
